Already inhabited in Roman times, the written history begins in 1154 Ad. In 1229, the men of the town participated in the great expedition to reconquer Mallorca from the Moors which started of in Salou with the king Jaime I. In the mid 17th century Cambrils was a walled town and a fortified site of some importance. Unfortunately there is not much left of these walls but there is still much to see in the Cambrils. Today the population of the town is about 23.531 which of course is a lot more in the summer months.
